Teach College Credit Plus

Get the Coursework To Meet College Credit Plus Teaching Requirements

New requirements for College Credit Plus teachers require many high school faculty members to seek additional qualifications to remain in the program. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requires that instructors teaching dual enrollment courses have the same credentials as campus faculty and meet qualifications set by the Ohio Board of Higher Education.

As a division of Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults in central Ohio, Urbana University can help fill the qualifications gap. Educators across the state of Ohio received access to $10 million in grants to expand the College Credit Plus program. Franklin received $885,000, the largest amount awarded by the Ohio Department of Education and Department of Higher Education, to offer tuition-free, graduate-level courses to Ohio’s high school teachers.

The grant, along with reduced tuition rates at Urbana, will assist educators in meeting new HLC requirements and advancing their expertise. Grant funds are available through Urbana University to high school teachers in central and western Ohio in the areas of business, computer science, psychology and behavioral sciences.

Teachers who qualify for grant funds will receive their graduate credits at no cost, including free tuition and books through 2017. Applicants who do not qualify for full funding can still earn the required qualifications and save money. Urbana University will extend reduced tuition and set book rates to all College Credit Plus teachers through 2020.
